Linda McKenzie George has extensive experience in the areas of Marketing, Brand Strategy and Public Policy. She specializes in working with clients in the real estate industry. Prior to starting Toyon Consulting Group, Linda was Executive Director of the Policy Advisory Board at the Fisher Center for Real Estate & Urban Economics at the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley.
Linda was a Partner at EY (formerly Ernst & Young) before joining the Fisher Center. Linda worked out of the New York City, San Francisco and Washington DC offices of EY where she was a senior executive with a demonstrated record of proven success in achieving public policy and other strategic goals.
Linda’s successes include spearheading the development and implementation of an award-winning global brand for Ernst & Young, leading teams around the world to create a foundation for the firm’s first-ever global integration strategy.
Known at EY as a strong consensus builder as well as for her ability to build strong constituent relationships, Linda was, after a successful global-brand rollout, tapped to serve as EY’s National Director of State Legislative and Regulatory Affairs in their Office of Public Policy. She was responsible for achieving the firm’s desired public policy agenda across all fifty states.
Real estate was Linda’s longtime industry commitment at EY. Early in her career she was part of a newly formed national real estate industry group leading strategic sales and marketing initiatives globally. Her accomplishments include the successful merger between EY and Kenneth Leventhal & Company. She co-authored numerous articles and thought-leadership publications on topics including global REIT markets, U.S. investment in China, top cities for corporate relocation, cost-containment and revenue-enhancement in lodging and the impact of technology in the real estate industry.
Linda’s professional affiliations include the Urban Land Institute, the International Women’s Forum and EY's Global Alumni Network. She is a former member of the Pension Real Estate Association, National Association of Home Builders, American Hotel and Lodging Association, International Association of Business Communicators and was a founding member of the CREW Network in San Francisco.
The Urban Land Institute is the oldest and largest network of cross-disciplinary real estate and land use experts in the world. The International Women’s Forum is a unique organization comprised of more than 6,500 dynamic women leaders in thirty-three countries and seventy-four forums around the world.
